Fern House is designed to sit gently on a forested site with minimal disturbance. It takes advantage of an existing long narrow clearing in the forest and a helical pile foundation system to sit right up against the trees and over the bed of ferns. The project is a long shifted bar that centers around the hearth and is designed so the woodstove/chimney can be seen from the adjacent shared spaces.
